Vote NO on Initiative 2066

Industrial smokestacks emitting smoke at sunset or sunrise, creating environmental pollution.

If 2066 passes in November, it would:

  • Repeal key parts of a new state law meant to hasten Puget Sound Energy’s transition away from natural gas, a major source of climate pollution.

  • Effectively nullify recent changes to Washington’s energy code designed to get more electric heat pumps – instead of gas furnaces – installed in newly built houses, apartments and commercial buildings.

  • Bar cities and counties from prohibiting, penalizing or discouraging “the use of gas for any form of heating, or for uses related to any appliance or equipment, in any building.” In other words, cities and counties could not offer education or incentive programs encouraging homes and businesses to switch to clean energy. I-2066 would remove some critical customer rebates and jeopardize all energy efficiency programs.

  • Roll back existing laws that keep our utilities on the path to clean energy.
