The Whidbey Island Democratic Club aims to promote democratic values by bringing island Democrats together for social and educational events.

WIDC was formed in 2003 to build social connections and educational opportunities for Democrats on Whidbey Island. WIDC is not a Political Action Committee, but may make contributions to the 10th L.D. Democrats or Island County Democrats. Contributions to WIDC are not tax deductible.

Democracy is not a spectator sport - it requires action

So what is Whidbey Island Democratic Club about, anyway?

  1. Diversity and Equity: We promote diversity, social justice, and equity, striving for inclusivity and fairness in all our endeavors.

  2. Justice and Rule of Law: We are committed to upholding justice, protecting the Bill of Rights, our republic, and the rule of law as fundamental pillars of our democracy.

  3. Informed Democracy: We believe in the power of an informed democracy, providing vital information to our community about local, state, and federal elections, candidates, and issues.

  4. Democratic Priorities: We advocate for democracy with a focus on specific issues including a woman's right to choose, freedom from gun violence, urgent climate action, and election integrity.

  5. Social, Labor, and Environmental Justice: We are dedicated to advancing social, labor, and environmental justice, recognizing their interconnectedness and importance for a thriving society.

  6. Truth and Respect: We uphold truth, dignity, and respect for others' democratic viewpoints, fostering understanding and constructive dialogue within our community.

  7. Education and Advocacy: We respect one another, foster understanding of democratic priorities, and educate the public about important issues, empowering individuals to engage meaningfully in our democratic processes.

These values serve as the foundation of our club, guiding our actions as we work towards a more just, equitable, and democratic society
