SAVE THE DATE! Friday, June 7, 4:00 – 6:00 pm at Bayview Hall – a democracy forum on “Shame in American Politics”

From the use of pillories and stocks in colonial America to the rise of “cancel culture,” use of shame as a weapon has a long history in the United States. And it has been used to mixed effect in the political arena when targeting politicians and their supporters.

Professor Carolyn Long examines the rise of shamelessness in American politics and the use of shame against those with whom we disagree. She is an associate professor at Washington State University’s Vancouver School of Politics, Philosophy and Public Affairs. Her research focuses on American politics, policy and law.

Please plan to join us for light refreshments and a compelling presentation and discussion. Bring your friends!
